How we care for every resident

All our residents have a right to live their life in a manner they are accustomed to. With this in mind, Vicarage Farm has adopted a person centred approach to care.

Our vision, mission, and values reflect the beliefs below.

Our beliefs

Independence & dignity

  • We believe it is our duty to support our residents' well-being and self-esteem by helping them gain and maintain as much independence as possible.
  • We believe it is our duty to help our residents maintain their dignity by respecting their privacy and protecting their personal information.
  • We believe each resident should be allowed to manage their own financial affairs as far as is practicable.

Choice & self-determination

  • We believe that our residents and families are partners in care and it is our duty to provide them with choices, information about choices, and to support their decision making.
  • We believe that we are advocates for our residents and serve as role models in supporting resident self-determination.
  • We believe it is our duty to support the rights and views of our residents and to encourage and support residents to explore and develop their own beliefs and values.

Strengths & individual needs

  • We believe that our residents and families have developed personal resources and resilience from successfully meeting past challenges and that these are strengths we build upon.
  • We believe that our residents are individuals and it is our duty to understand both their past and present as well as their future aspirations, in order to plan and meet their individual needs.
  • We believe that care needs to be reviewed regularly, at which residents or next of kin have the right to be present, be consulted, and be informed of alternative options within their care plan.

Safety & compassion

  • We believe it is our duty to provide care with compassion and to protect our residents from harm or abuse, whether physical, verbal or psychological, by anyone.
  • We believe we have a duty to continue to grow in our skills and knowledge in order to provide the best quality of care for our residents.
  • We believe that quality is what our clients say it is, and that it is our duty to regularly ask for and respond to their feedback and input.

Community & connection

  • We believe it is important for our residents to stay connected with their community and that it is our duty to provide an environment that supports continued relationships with friends and family.
  • We believe that it is important for each resident to be allowed to practise their religion of choice and attend appropriate religious services.
  • We believe each resident should be placed on the electoral register and given the opportunity to vote.

Collaboration & respect

  • We believe that we can achieve more collectively and it is our duty to treat families, staff, volunteers, management, and representatives of outside agencies with respect, and to work collaboratively to benefit our residents.
  • We believe each resident should have access to a formal complaints procedure.
